Bulking Up Healthfully: Busting Myths about Weight Gain Through Videos

Should you include your children in your SMSF?

SMSFAccording to the 2014 SMSF statistical report released by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), the number of SMSF members has now reached the 1 million figure, which is considered an important milestone for the SMSF industry. Andrea Slattery, the SMSF Professionals’ Association of Australia (SPAA) CEO, says that this figure clearly demonstrates that there’s a growing number of people wanting to take responsibility of their future. But based on the recent record, about 70 percent of SMSFs have two members, and only 10 percent have more than two members. With this data, it is fair to assume that most parents don’t include their children in their SMFs.

While super funds are specifically designed for the husband-and-wife’s retirement, including children and other family members can be a very effective plan, according to experts. Adding your children or other family members can provide a lot of benefits. It can be a great way to build your family’s wealth and secure your children’s future. But as with any other investment strategy, there can be risks along with benefits to all parties concerned, so a careful thought should be given before planning to include your kids in your self-managed super funds.

Here are the pros and cons of including your children within your SMSF:

Pros

  • You can build a larger and more diversified investment portfolio, allowing you to acquire more expensive assets, such as a residential or business property.
  • You can have the ability to save investment costs for running a single fund.
  • It helps your children to be engaged with superannuation and investments, providing them an opportunity to build wealth for their future.
  • Your kids become trustees, allowing them to control and manage the funds upon your passing.
  • Your kids obtain long-term tax benefits and insurance in the event of disability or death.
  • It provides your children a financial education about the importance of planning for retirement and on how to effectively manage money and assets.

Cons

  • It can result in you losing control of your funds, especially when it comes to decision-making, since most parents and children have different financial objectives.
  • It can cause family pressure and administrative complexity, especially when the other members start to receive pension while some are still in the accumulation phase, or one member is in financial difficulty.
  • Family problems may arise in case of divorce or death (about what should happen to your fund).
  • Family dispute may also arise, especially if you are a family with more than four members since SMSF is only limited up to four members.

The reality is there are always risks and rewards involved in any undertaking. Whether or not you include your children in your self-managed super funds should be something that you and your family should talk about and carefully consider – after all, it’s a family matter. It is also be wise to seek legal advice from anSMSF expert or investment lawyer to help you in the planning and decision-making, and to fully understand the benefits and risks of including your children in your SMSF.

How can I pay for my child’s education?

If you don’t have a Bachelor’s degree and you’re worried about how you’re going to pay for your child’s education on your salary, then you may want to consider changing to a better paying career. The fact is that there are jobs out there that don’t require a Bachelor’s degree and still pay quite well. Also, in today’s economy there is no guarantee that a Bachelor’s degree will even result in a high-paying job.

 child education

High-paying jobs that don’t require a Bachelor’s degree

The medical field has several career opportunities that don’t require a Bachelor’s degree, pay quite well, and are stable careers with demand now and in the future. For most of these careers you’ll only need a certificate or an associate’s degree, as well as being registered with your State.

X-ray technicians earn an average of $52,000 per year according to xraytechtips.com and this field is expected to continue growing in the next decade. You can usually specialize in a certain type of radiography, for example magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and earn even more (they earn an average of $65,000 per year)

Other careers in the medical field that are stable, pay well, and don’t require a Bachelor’s degree include: Registered Nurse, Dental Hygienist, Nuclear medicine technologist, Radiation therapists, among other careers in the medical field.

How to effectively save for your child’s college fund

Just changing to a higher paying career isn’t the only thing you have to do to make sure you save money for your child’s education. You will also have to implement some strategies into your lifestyle to start saving now and long-term so that by the time your child is ready for college, you are ready financially.

You will need to make a monthly budget (use an excel spreadsheet) to see how much you spend and on what. Now, make adjustments if you can to cut down on unnecessary expenditures (for example, bring your lunch and coffee with you to work instead of buying them), and then decide how much you’ll be depositing into the college fund. Even a couple hundred dollars a month will go a long way. To know exactly how much you’ll need, look online at the average price of a college education (this will depend on whether the school is private or public) and then divide that amount by the number of years you have to save (meaning, before your child reaches the end of high school). Now that you know how much to put away every month, open a special savings account and set up an automatic transfer of that amount directly from your paycheck.

The cost of a college education isn’t cheap, but it is possible to afford it, even if you don’t have a Bachelor’s degree. By choosing a career in the medical field that only requires a certificate or associate’s degree, and planning ahead to know how much you need to save every month will give you the peace of mind by knowing that you’ll be able to help your child pursue the education and career of their choice.

How To Select The Right Payroll Service Provider

payroll service provider

Running a business can be very rewarding but it also has a plethora of different challenges. One of the biggest challenges is dealing with payroll so these suggestions will help you streamline the process. You could try and process the payroll on your own but if you make a mistake you could be slapped with heavy fines and penalties so you need to look for professional organizations that offer these payroll services. There are some questions that need to be addressed before you can select a payroll service so be sure to follow these steps in detail.

Key Questions To Address When Screening The Various Payroll Service Providers

The first question that must be addressed is whether the payroll service provider handles remittance to the government including superannuation. If the payroll deductions including this superannuation is not submitted to the government in a timely manner then you could be levied with penalties.  After you have confirmed the payroll service provider performs remittance you can move to the second item, how many years has the payroll service provider been in business. There are new firms opening up daily but you don’t know whether the firm is reliable or not so what you need to do is look for firms that have been in operation for 5 or more years. Once you have identified the organizations that have been offering these payroll services for more than 5 years you should find out how much each of them are charging for their services.

Each of these payroll service providers will charge whatever they feel their service is worth. Some will charge an hourly rate while others will either charge a flat fee or take a percentage of the total payroll being processed. What you need to do is look at the pricing in detail and make a list of the top 20 firms based on the fees being charged for their services. Now that you know which of these payroll service providers has the most competitive pricing you have to review their individual track records to try and identify the one who has the best reputation.

The most effective way to establish this reputation is by reading over the comments made by other business owners who have used or currently are using the payroll service provider you are screening. To get this information you must visit a variety of different social networking websites and read over all of the comments made by these business owners.  If you are not satisfied or able to find comments on these social networking platforms you should look for independent websites that review payroll service providers. Only when you have completed this due diligence should you move forward and meet with the payroll service provider in person to discuss your needs in detail.  If you stick with this approach you will have more time to focus on growing your business knowing your payroll issues have been addressed.

Allowing Your Child To Be The Best Video Editor Now

Videos are a form of entertainment and without them people would not be able to find out what is happening in the world. The children of this world are the future movie editors who will decide what a person watches on their entertainment device. Practice makes perfect, so it is best to start allowing them to make videos now, but before they can begin editing software needs to be purchased.

kid video editing

What Is Video Editing?

Every commercial or movie that an individual views has experienced video editing. Video editing is when someone removes or switches around, what a person sees when they are watching a video. For example, if the producer of the movie does not like the flyaway hair of an actress during the shooting he can remove this scene from the clip or change the coloring to edit it out. Another example is taking the last scene the videographer shot and moving it to the middle or beginning of the video.

Children Who Love Making Movies

These days children are constantly making movies of their families and friends, then posting them on social networks. Without video editing they have to get the perfect video the first time or they will have to keep recording until it is perfect. To keep the child from constantly having to recapture the moment, parents can invest in video editing software. The child may not know how to properly work the software in the beginning, but when the instructions are fully understood they will be working toward becoming the next Michael Kahn.

Choosing The Best Software

When deciding to purchase your child their first video editing software, there are so many to choose from. The best video editors may have learned when they went to college, but your child can start at a young age and they will be well advanced by the time they are in college. The most important feature of the software is having a beginner mode for the child. This allows them to follow instructions the software has, and grasp information from easy to follow tutorials. Secondly, the software should be compatible with your computer, and offer easy uploading to the websites which the child prefers.

What Is A Reasonable Price?

Professionals may have software editing programs that cost hundreds of dollars, but for a child who is just beginning their editing career this is not needed. There is software that can be purchased for under $40, and will offer everything a new video editor requires, such as color corrections and transitions. Parents who are pleased with their child’s advancement in video editing can purchase programs that will have their child editing like a pro, and priced at $100 or more.

Practice Makes Perfect

Within no time parents will see their child making multiple videos that will be clean, with sound effects and music. The child will have the videos on nearly every social network, and their editing skills will be recognized by their friends and people who would like to access their skills in the future.

Superannuation: Investing For Your Child’s Future

As the cost of education, houses, and cars continue to rise, saving has become more important now than ever. But with the never-ending rising cost of everyday expenses, saving has also become a lot harder. The good news is that setting aside even a small amount can really add up if you do it on a regular basis – much more if you start investing early. Additionally, there are a lot of methods out there whereby you can gain saving benefits and earn enough funds to pay for your child’s future and other expenses. If you’re looking for a long-term investment option, then superannuation may be worth considering.

superannuation

What is superannuation?

Superannuation, or much commonly known as super, is a long-term savings plan reserved for retirement. It works almost similarly to other retirement plans where you make contributions during your work life. Generally, the funds you put into your superannuation stay there until you reach the minimum required age or what they call the “preservation age,” which is mostly in the age 60. There are a few circumstances where you may be able to access your super funds early, but you need to be in severe financial hardship to be allowed to do that, and these situations are often limited.

In Australia, people are encouraged to set aside funds into superannuation. The Australian government supports this type of retirement fund and requires employers to pay a proportion of employees’ salaries into a superannuation fund.

How does superannuation work?

Superannuation is not an investment in itself, but rather a type of fund that has an investment strategy – to meet the retirement needs of the contributors. Generally, an investment strategy includes investing in a variety of investment options or asset classes, such as cash, property, and fixed interest. Your choice of investment depends upon your own personal circumstance, risk appetite, or goal.

Generally, whatever your investment decision is you will likely have a default option. This is similar to other types of investment or insurance plans where they offer basic level of protection but unless you specify an alternative or tailor it according to your own needs, you will receive whatever is the default for your own fund, which in most cases, may not be enough.

During the accumulation phase, or the time when you are making contributions to your super fund, any investment earnings are taxed at 15 per cent or more depending on the income of contributors, which makes this type of investment one of the most tax-effective investment options. Aside from receiving an age pension, another reason why people are investing to superannuation is to reduce their income tax liability. When you reach your retirement, any earnings in the fund are already tax-free.

The money that is put into your superfund can be made by you, your employer, or sometimes the government. Typically, if you are working in a company, your employer is required to pay 9.5 per cent of your salary into a super fund. This is called as the compulsory Superannuation Guarantee, and rates are gradually increasing and will reach 12 per cent by the year 2020.

Over the course of your working life, your contributions to your super fund accumulate and grow over time to build a nest egg. When you reach the retirement age, you will have money to use for your retirement, housing, food, and more importantly for your children’s future, such as for their education.

Superannuation is a long-term investment with great benefits, so it’s worth considering if you want to create a secure and comfortable future. There are seven different main types of superannuation funds, which include Industry Funds, Wholesale Master Trusts, Retail Master Trusts/Wrap Platforms, Employer Stand-alone Funds, Self Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs), Small APRA Funds (SAFs), and Public Sector Employees Funds.

If you would like to know more information about these different types of superannuation funds, talk to your financial adviser.

Bulking Up Healthfully: Busting Myths about Weight Gain Through Videos

weight-gain-megaguide

The current obesity epidemic in developed countries shows that gaining weight comes easy for most people. However, some hard gainers simply cannot gain weight and yes, there are categories of people who need to bulk up for their professions. This also includes women in athletics, sports, wrestling and so on. These professionals mainly need to gain muscles in order to prevent sport injuries. While information on losing weight is available abundantly, the education related to healthful weight gain is extremely limited and, in some cases, downright incorrect. The result: skinny girls and boys try to load up on buttery snacks, fatty and junk foods thinking they are gaining weight in a healthy manner. This is where cable education can come in handy to bust myths about bulking up.

Gaining muscles fast Videos: They Simply Want Your Money

Today there are hundreds of thousands of videos available on this topic and they promise you faster muscle gain. However, all they want is your money and it is important that the videos you invest in actually have professional nutritionists’ and weightlifters’ advice to help you gain weight in healthier way. A professionally made bulking up video will, for example, advise you on why gaining weight is harder for some. The reasons could include genetics, higher energy expenditure and inadequate protein, carbohydrate and calorie intake.

Hence, it is important that you stay away from all that bad information floating around that is leading to a warped view about bulking up. Some videos, for example, focus only on weight lifting. However, bulking up for women actually consists of the use of women specific protein shakes. One can get honest reviews on best weigh gain protein shakes for women on http://www.womensproteinshakes.com/. These reviews will help you choose the right protein so that you can rebuild your muscles as you lift weights for toning them.

Bulking and Gaining Weight for women: The easy part and the not so easy part

Naturally, the right videos will also show you how to lift weights since mass follows strength and one cannot get bigger without getting stronger. The video workouts, however, must be divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced levels to cater to different needs. The right cable education in this matter must also include tools and calculators to show the average monthly muscle gain needed to achieve annual weight gain targets. This is obviously the difficult part of the process; lifting weights just right and not over or under-doing things. Depending on individual levels, the videos will focus on intense and focused workout sessions so results will be guaranteed.

That being said; the easy part again comes down to nutrition. But in this area, there is possibility of making mistakes. Some women think they can drink any protein shake after an intense workout session. However, one must realize that one needs at least 5 days for muscles to rebuild after a single workout. So, continuous ingestion of the right protein in this period is vital. The focus, here is on the word ‘right’.

Myth surrounding bulking up: fat is not equal to strong

As mentioned before, eating more during this period will not help you in muscle gain; it will only help in weight gain. Naturally, there are many exceptions to this rule: advanced bodybuilding professionals need to bulk and cut and bulk and cut over and over to gain muscles. However; for 95% of people, and especially women, this is sure to cause more trouble and is really not worth it.

Thus, as is evident, bulking up has many intricacies involved in it and in order to do it right, education in this matter is very important. You can turn to the Internet or visit a library to acquire books and research materials on the topic. The more you do; the better your bulking up efforts will be rewarded.

Invisible Heart Strings: Youth Seeking Future Careers Through Video

heartstringsInvisible Heart Strings: Youth Seeking Future Careers Through Video

There is an old saying stating that the closest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. But in this new age of technology…what if they were wrong? In our current modern times a cardiologist inserts long narrow tubes known as catheters deep into a patient’s blood stream to check a heart’s internal pressure. A special die is then injected once the catheter is in place, which in turn creates a blueprint for the physician to determine whether the heart’s functions have been obstructed by either lifestyle or genetics. In simple non-medical terms this process can be described using the metaphor of a small child drinking radioactive lemonade from a long narrow flexi-straw in a dark setting. By this very analogy many cardiologists are able to detect disease inside a patient’s heart long before it even begins. But what if in the near future in order to keep saving lives this very profession itself must also evolve? Could we as patients keep up? Or would many more perish from a lack of knowledge? Or would we simply turn to our children for the answers? Could a new generation of students emerging from various medical schools potentially revolutionize the way we see this field?

In order for our children to stop the war against our hearts before it even begins we must first educate them on what a cardiologist does. How much does a cardiologist make? How important is their role in our current and future society? On average, Americans suffer around 1.5 million heart attacks each year.  Roughly 2,200 people die from heart disease, which in turn results in over 600,000 deaths. It is safe to say that in order to change the future, we must first begin inside the present. This can be done by educating students on how to help save lives in this profession, and highlighting the daunting road along the way that they will take.

For starters…If a student is looking to start a career as a cardiologist they must understand the duty.  They must begin by dedicating themselves to over eight years of schooling and training.  Once certified, not only will they save lives in the present, but in the future as well. Though this path is challenging, it is one that will pay off in the end. Cardiologists are considered some of the most skilled doctors in the world. For more information on cardiologist salaries click here.

It is important that many young people understand that though becoming a future cardiologist requires ample dedication, good fortune is given to those in this life who persevere. Who knows… through video education and career exploration, a young medical student possessing enough intellect and inspiration with a little guidance can become the next Mother Teresa; or Jonas Salk the virologist of the polio vaccination. Heart disease may have had the power to kill thousands in the past. But it only takes a humble warrior of the present to save future lives.

Free Up More Time by Outsourcing Payroll

As a parent, you naturally wish to spend more time with your children and ensure they are getting the best of education in their formative years. However, if you are also running a business from home, you might find that payroll management is a major hassle that eats up a chunk of your time. Omit the filing of taxes and you are slapped with a stiff penalty, literally turning this small hassle into a major avalanche of worries. So, instead of in-house processing, why not outsource your payroll? Not only is this an attractive way of freeing up time; you will also see that it has several other benefits including ease of paying employees, ease of filing taxes and taking care of all other nitty-gritty details involved in payroll.

outsourcing

Reasons why small business owners are reluctant to outsource their payroll

Many small businesses find it difficult to outsource their payroll. They mistakenly think that in-house processing is more beneficial. Most believe they are being cost effective and saving tons of money through in house processing. They also believe they are protecting their delicate information. Thirdly, they believe that they will have better control if they do it all by themselves.

Yes, definitely: if you are a small business with few employees and straight forward tax obligations, you’d find that in-house processing is a good thing, mostly. Many SMEs actually end up discovering that they have spent a lot of time in managing these processes; time they could have otherwise spent watching cable educational programs or playing with their kids. Hence, payroll outsourcing is the way to go.

Using an external payroll service can help ease your mind. If statistics from the IRS are to be believed, nearly 1 out of 3 employees makes payroll mistakes; mistakes that cost billions of dollars. For small businesses, factor in the ever changing tax scenarios and the bottom line is sure to be grossly affected.

In house payroll processing also requires the purchase of a computer or a manual accounting program with some trained employee who can work it. If you have workers working in shifts, and are also seeing significant profits in the business, outsourced payroll can help you save more time, which in turn, can save you more money.

Services provided

External payroll companies take care of all payroll related obligations including issuing of checks, tax obligation on individual basis, weekly, monthly, bi-monthly or annual financial reporting, informing about 401 K and mutual fund schemes and plans and so on. W-2 forms are also issued by these firms at little cost. Payroll services also include filing of state and federal taxes if desired.

Choosing the right provider

Naturally, when you decide to outsource payroll services, you must choose wisely.

Choose a company that will ensure highest level of customer satisfaction and is currently maintaining at least a hundred clients. Make sure that the company reps are willing to communicate with you quickly and from time to time. It is best to select a provider who is willing to give client references. Once you get a couple, make sure to call these references and get the details about the provider. Most payroll service providers do not take money from you and perform these services at little or no costs. Typical costs could range anywhere from few cents to $2 per paycheck along with a base account fee. The companies mainly earn their revenues on interests accrued when funds for taxes are issued to them, until they need to be handed over to the state and federal governments.

You, on your part need to relay payroll information to the provider form time to time. This can be done on the phone or via fax. Companies with large payrolls can also relay information using the Internet.
